Constitutional Crises of 2025-26

The United Knights of Dalewood experienced unprecedented upheaval in the Fall semester of 2025-2026, as a result of hostile state relations and traitorous students intent on the country’s destruction. In the end, the country stayed together as a result of a Constitutional amendment and a failed secession vote. The sordid drama is described below:

On December 23, 2025, the day before winter break, two conniving citizens of Lawcedonia (Bennett Parker and Sebastian Cochran Rivera) made a proposal to upset the balance of power between the states. The proposed law: “Lawcedonia’s votes are worth 5 times as much as Mid-Knight votes” managed to pass 17-10, as a result of four Mid Knight citizens voting against their own interests.

On January 7th and 8th, after returning from break, the citizens of Mid Knight attempted to repeal the law, but failed to get a majority of U.K.D. voters to agree to repeal.

Mid Knight was disgusted with what they viewed as an attempt by power-hungry Lawcedonia to dominate and oppress their state. They proposed their own law, branding citizens of Lawcedonia with a derogatory slur: “Citizens of Lawcedonia can now only be referred to as “Lawcers” in the U.K.D.” The citizens of Mid Knight voted in favor of the “Lawcers” law 16-3, but the Lawcers voted against it 1-13. This created a need for constitutional interpretation. If Lawcer votes were worth five times as much as Mid Knight votes, the “Lawcer” law would fail 19-68. But the citizens of Mid Knight insisted that the vote granting Lawcedonia greater voting power was unconstitutional, and therefore the “Lawcers” law actually passed 17-16. An attempt to repeal the “Lawcers” law failed a few days later 15-18.

On January 9, the Teacher made a final determination in Constitutional Interpretation 2026-1. The Teacher struck down the law giving Lawcedonia additional voting power as unconstitutional. As a result the “Lawcers” law was deemed passed.

The dirty Lawcers were furious at what they deemed an authoritarian turn by the Teacher. They believed that the Teacher had no power to overturn laws under the U.K.D. Constitution. Many Lawcers called for secession from the U.K.D. A proposal to censure the Teacher passed in Lawcedonia, but the Teacher insisted that reversing his original Constitutional Interpretation was not an “appropriate remedy”, as described in the Constitution.

The concerns about Teacher overreach and the bad blood between the states led many citizens of the U.K.D. to conclude that a Constitutional Amendment was needed to limit the Teacher’s power. Lawcedonia and Mid Knight had separate proposals to deal with the issue, both of which would create a position in the government that could review and overturn the Teacher’s decisions. Lawcedonia passed the “Grand Poobah” amendment 15-1, but it was not even voted on in Mid Knight. Mid Knight passed the original “Supreme Kirk” amendment 18-3, but Lawcedonia refused to vote on that amendment (possibly due to a bribery scandal involving another Wheaton teacher).

Ultimately the two states reached a compromise agreement, which passed 28-5. The final result was the 5th Amendment to the Constitution, which created a position called the “Supreme Kirk” with ultimate final authority over Constitutional Interpretation, and bestowed that power upon the whichever Social Studies teacher chaired the National, State and Local Government Professional Learning Community (PLC).

But the Constitutional Amendment failed to heal all wounds. On the final day of the semester (January 23, 2026), Mid Knight Student Representative Mark Mueller proposed that Mid Knight secede from the U.K.D. once and for all. Mueller remained concerned about the Teacher’s willingness to exceed his authority and the Lawcedonia prejudices against Mid Knight. Mueller drafted a new constitution for Mid Knight as a sovereign nation and attempted to bribe the students of Mid Knight to adopt it. But ultimately the traitorous Mueller’s scheme failed, and the students voted to remain in the U.K.D by a vote of 11-7.

And a cheer went over the land: “U.K.D. now! U.K.D. forever!”
