On February 14 and 15, 2024, citizens of the U.K.D. voted that the “Knight/Owl/Sword” seal should be adopted as the official seal of the U.K.D. The Knight/Owl/Sword seal, which was designed by Jeffrey Villanueva-Gonzalez, is shown below:
The vote for the seal resulted in the first official Constitutional Interpretation of the fledgling nation. The vote in Mid-Knight was 4-12. But the vote in Lawcedonia was 19-3, meaning that a majority of voters had approved the seal, despite the fact that it lost in Mid-Knight. On at least two prior occasions the Constitution had been as interpreted as requiring a majority of votes in each Class for passage of a national law. But this informal precedent was overturned in Constitutional Interpretation 2024-1.
On June 2, 2023, the states of the U.K.D. failed to agree on a seal to represent the country so there is currently no seal. Students voted on this round seal designed by Julissa Ramirez:
1st Period (later named Lawcedonia) voted in favor of the round seal 3-0. 3rd Period (later named Mid-Knight) voted against the round seal 4-2. Having failed to receive a majority of the vote in both classes, Mr. Nesin determined that the round seal design did not pass (he would later revisit the issue of the vote requirement for passage of national laws in Constitutional Interpretation 2024-1). The United Knights of Dalewood therefore lacked an official seal until February 2024.
